PostSubject: I met Robert A. Salvatore!!!   I met Robert A. Salvatore!!! EmptyMon Apr 13, 2009 11:59 am

I met Salvatore at norwescon this weekend, he's an awesome guy! Met his son Geno also and got a copy of his first book Very Happy for free!!! But the icing on the cake is I had a 30 min convo with his wife about history (Im a history minor) lol. He signed my copy of Servant of the Shard with (I was the only person he saw all weekend with a Sell Swords Trilogy book to sign apparently) "To Matt, Bad guys rock!!! -Bob Salvatore" Didn't get any pics though, he seemed to be blinded enough by everyone else. Didn't feel I needed to add to the plethora of spots he was already seeing lol.

Also most of faerun drow society is apperently based on The Godfather I found out. The 8 houses of menzo are supposed to represent the 5 families of New york. So, If you haven't seen the movie or read the book I suggest you do. Not only are they great, but we may get some good RP ideas from them. I for one will be picking up the book after I finish up The Sell Swords Trilogy.

I can do that! Roomies all in one printer has a scanner. Whats really funny is Salvatore didn't really get into fantasy until freshman year of college (he was actually kind of a Jock) , he got the lord of the rings box set from his sister and read it when he got stuck at his moms house in one of Massuchusetts worse snow storms ever. He said though "lucky for me I wasn't at my moms house, I was with bilbo baggins in middle earth." lol. I know how he feels. I read the The Dark Elf Trilogy (first dark drow books I ever read, icewind dale came next for me Smile )) while in court for my racing charge (dont ask). I wasn't in court though I was in Menzoberranzan, thanking the universe I didn't get my racing charge there lol.

Jarlaxle is an awesome character also one of my favs. Entreri is my favorite though. So far The Sell Swords has been my favourite trilogy puttinf them together is awesome. I got a thing for anti-heros\villians. I can't wait to get to the third book (I hope theres more Athrogate, his rhyming is starting to grow on me hehe).

I wasn't as big a fan of War of the Spider queen. Mostly because all my favourite people died lol. I wont ruin it for anyone who hasn't read it. For those of you who have, Drow mage lotsa spiders, nuff said Sad.

O man! I'm like so jealous! I've read -all- Salvatore's Forgotten Realm books (what they have translated to Finnish, that is, Orc king is newest), and still waiting for more.
Btw, if you want more FR, you should definetly read Elaine Cunningham's books, they're dawn awesome also. Especially the half-elf saga (and I forgot her name already >_>)

Want to know something real bad ass then? A former Kor'ali (And a Vandree, since Vandree was founded by xXull who also founded Kor'ali) by the name of Xukuthe'l was played by R.A. Salvatore's nephew, William. I grew up with Will. Every summer that lucky bastard got to play D&D with his "Uncle Bobby." Just a random fact, I thought I would give you lads and lasses.

On another note, sadly still no nwn 2 for lack of a computer to run it on. Waiting on Insurance settlement then I will hopefully be back.
