About the current Devlin issue Empty
PostSubject: About the current Devlin issue   About the current Devlin issue EmptySun Aug 03, 2008 2:02 am

I'm becoming increasingly worried about this issue, as to me it seems childish and when I think some more on it, I just get the feeling that "no wonder Morcane and Mori'hyanda fought like this", although I always felt we would be more mature than that. Obviously, that is not the case.

I believe we're increasingly ruining the atmorsphere of the drow community, whether some random player insulted another random player or not, and both just *happened* to be in a noble house. It seems such issues as this should be taken out between the petty players, instead of the guilds, but I understand the position. I've been a DM, and even a drow matron 3 times in my NWN time for a long period of time, and there have been issues like this when I just felt that I wanted to slaughter every bloody stupid drow out there.

But come on, this is to me obvious, it's about players becoming bored and just want to try those abilities they got from grinding on other players, just to show how cool they are. And we're obliging them. We're all such suckers. Instead of building up a community with the other houses, a common understanding, a council, a united front from the outside, but divided within, we reach into meaningless PvP encounters for no other reason than to be the "ELITE BEST FUCKING DROW PLAYER ON SERVER! LOL LEET!".

Yikes. Didn't you feel you could get something more out of this? Sometimes it takes a bigger man to admit to wrongs he never did, or ignoring others, for the benfit of all.

I think that the issue of other Drow - noble or not - offending or challenging Vorne in public should be dealt with BY DMs.
It is completely unacceptable that some overconfident male with a foul mouth dares to disrespect a bloody Illharess!!!
Just the fact of the taunts being made should bring a lot of trouble on that Drow ... and his or her house!
Even the matrons themselves cannot disrespect each other like that ... EVEN on the battleground engaged in melee already.
Sorry - I expect more of the Drow and cannot imagine them running like children and clapping their mouths waving swords.
Should be more subtle and generaly higher class!
But that's my opinion - let me know if I am wrong ... or pass it around if you agree so maybe something will change on the server.

Cheers

Why, oh WHY, should it always be a DM issue? Don't they have enough already?

For gods sake, if you all just could get together and bloody cooperate on a council, a general code of conduct and show a united front, there wouldn't even be issues like this. Because if they would arise, the whole community would just shun them (and then the DMs can expel them to the surface).

As it is now, everyone for themselves, no bloody wonder a few crappy action players will ruin it for everyone. Why should they stop? They get a thrill of it, they loose nothing. And it's our fault for obliging them idiots.

I said that DMs should be involved because I think the issue is far out of IC already and the way some play Drow (especially Drow males) isn't acceptable - that's what I meant ... I believe that DMs are here to sort of supervise the RP standards and administrate the server and events going on.
If it comes to Drow politics - THAT should be left to the players of course ... with a minimum of guidance and help from the DMs as well still.

Previously I commented on poor RP (which should be monitored by the DMs) not just an idea for dealing with the situation - that IC is easy - there must be blood drawn and political consequences following as ANY opportunity for Kor'ali to get higher on the ladder is to be used in Drow world ...

I don't understand the rationale behind being so pissed OOC for vorne acting like Ilharesses ALL act on this server. Honestly, death is taken too lightly on this server. You would never see ilharesses going around damaging other houses "property" (I.e. males) like you do right now. I've been "played with" by matrons of other houses several times... resulting in my death (and subsequent raise, but still) and you don't see me throwing a fit about it. Because, that's what everyone accepts as the conduct of Matrons in Szith.

So, knowing that, why the hell play an underdark male drow if you are going to get ooc pissed every time something like that happens? Either talk to the DMs and the community at large ooc and change the way matrons act, or accept it. And hell yes there can and should be IC consequences, rivalries, anger... but there shouldn't be OOC vendetta, which is what we have now.

Threaten to have my characters permakilled... that's the sort of ooc shit I've gotten over this issue. That's such a crock.
